Siding and Gutters in the Birmingham Metro

Siding and gutters are where a roof job either finishes properly or quietly fails. Alabama humidity is hard on wood trim, and undersized gutters on a steep roof will overshoot in a hard rain no matter how clean they are. We size and install both around what your roof actually sheds.

What's included

  • James Hardie fiber cement siding and trim
  • Seamless aluminum gutters formed on site to your exact runs
  • Gutter guards matched to your tree cover, not sold by default
  • Downspout routing that moves water away from the foundation
  • Fascia and soffit repair where rot has started
  • Color matching to your existing roof and trim

How it goes

  1. 1

    Walk the exterior with you

We look at siding, trim, fascia, soffit, and where water currently goes when it rains hard. Rot is usually further along than it looks from the ground.

  2. 2

Size the system to the roof

Gutter capacity is a function of roof area and pitch. Steep Vestavia and Mountain Brook roofs frequently need six-inch gutters and more downspouts than the builder installed.

  3. 3

    Written scope and color selection

Physical samples against your house in daylight, and HOA submittal handled where the neighborhood requires it.

  4. 4

    Install and water test

We run water through the finished gutter system before we call it done.

Questions we get asked

Why James Hardie instead of vinyl?
In this climate, fiber cement holds up better. It does not soften or warp in Alabama summer heat the way vinyl can on a sun-facing wall, it holds paint for a long time, and it is substantially more resistant to impact and to pests. It costs more up front and it is heavier to install. If budget makes vinyl the right answer for your situation we will say so rather than pretending it is never an option.
Do I actually need gutter guards?
It depends entirely on your tree cover, which is why we will not quote them by default. Under the mature hardwoods in Mountain Brook or Homewood, guards are close to essential — packed valleys and gutters are a genuine cause of roof failure there. On an open lot in a newer Hoover subdivision with no overhanging trees, they are often money you do not need to spend.
My gutters overflow even though they are clean. Why?
Almost always undersized capacity or too few downspouts. A steep roof delivers water to the gutter faster than a shallow one, and five-inch gutter on a large steep roof will simply overshoot in a heavy Alabama downpour. The fix is usually six-inch gutter and additional downspouts, not more cleaning.
Can you match my existing siding?
Usually for repairs, sometimes not for large sections — product lines get discontinued and existing siding has weathered. We will tell you honestly before starting whether a patch will be visible from the street, so you can decide between an obvious repair and replacing a full elevation.
